Here at Svelte Body Clinic we only use the best equipment possible to treat our clients, ensuring the safest and most clinically effective treatments possible. With this in mind, we are delighted to announce that we have recently added the world’s most exciting development in ‘pain-free’ laser hair removal technology:
The Excel HR by CUTERA.
This advanced technology allows us to use the exact type of laser considered by dermatologists as “most effective in laser hair removal treatments” (Alexandrite) but in a new ‘pain-free’ mode!
Traditionally, despite the Alexandrite laser being the most effective for laser hair removal, it can be a quite an uncomfortable treatment compared to other alternatives. Our new Technology helps overcome the uncomfortable aspect of this treatment by changing the way the laser is reflected by the skin, allowing all our clients to receive ‘pain-free’ laser hair removal treatment, with the gold-standard results of a traditional Alexandrite laser.
Together with our revolutionary new laser technology, all our operators here at Svelte Body Clinic have received comprehensive theory and practical based training by the UK’s No.1 supplier & manufacturer: Cutera

Lasers kill hair follicles through a process called selective photothermolysis. Here's how it works:
1. Targeting Melanin: Laser hair removal devices emit light at specific wavelengths that are absorbed by melanin, the pigment that gives hair its color. Darker, coarser hair contains more melanin and absorbs more laser energy than lighter or finer hair.
2. Heat Generation: As the melanin absorbs the laser energy, it is converted into heat. This heat is transferred to the surrounding hair follicle.
3. Follicle Destruction: The heat generated damages the hair follicle, particularly the cells responsible for hair growth (such as the bulb and stem cells in the follicle). The goal is to destroy or severely damagethe follicle, preventing future hair growth.
4. Anagen Phase: Lasers are most effective when hair is in its anagen phase, the active growth phase, because the follicle is most connected to the hair shaft and can absorb more heat. Hair in other phases (resting or shedding) is less affected, which is why multiple treatments are necessary to target all hairs over time.
After several treatments, hair growth is either significantly reduced or stopped altogether, though some maintenance treatments may be needed over time to address any regrowth from follicles that were not fully destroyed.
