Here at Svelte Body Clinic we only use the best equipment possible to treat our clients, ensuring the safest and most clinically effective treatments possible. With this in mind, we are delighted to announce that we have recently added the world’s most exciting development in ‘pain-free’ laser hair removal technology:
The EXCEL HR by Cutera.
This new and unique laser hair removal device uses a specialist technology. This advanced technology allows us to use the exact type of laser considered by dermatologists as “most effective in laser hair removal treatments” (Alexandrite) but in a new ‘pain-free’ mode!
Traditionally, despite the Alexandrite laser being the most effective for laser hair removal, it can be a quite an uncomfortable treatment compared to other alternatives. Our EXCEL HR Technology helps overcome the uncomfortable aspect of this treatment by changing the way the laser is reflected by the skin, allowing all our clients to receive ‘pain-free’ laser hair removal treatment, with the gold-standard results of a traditional Alexandrite laser.
Spider veins are tiny, thin veins that vary in colour, just under the surface of your skin.
Men and women of all ages develop spider veins.
Varicose and spider veins are damaged veins. We develop them when tiny, one-way valves inside the veins weaken. Malfunctioning valves in feeder veins are the underlying cause. In healthy veins, these valves push blood in one direction — back to our heart. When these valves weaken, some blood flows backward and accumulates in the vein. Extra blood in the vein puts pressure on the walls of the vein. Some of this backed-up blood can lead to non-functional veins that appear underneath the surface of the skin as spider veins. With continual pressure, the vein walls weaken and bulge. In time, we see a varicose or spider vein.
Some people have a higher risk of developing these veins. If blood relatives have them, you have a higher risk. Many people get them because they sit or stand for long periods most days of the week. These veins also become more common with age and during pregnancy. Spider veins can also be caused by sunlight, hormonal changes, or an injury.
Here at Svelte Body Clinic we use the Cutera Excel HR Alexandrite and Nd YAG Laser machine.
The machine delivers light energy to the skin where the visible blood vessels occur. The Nd YAG laser pierces the skin and penetrates the superficial blood vessel. The heat generated from the laser coagulates the blood inside the vessel causing it to collapse and seal.
The damaged vein gradually dissolves and is removed through the body’s natural immune system, leaving the skin smooth and clear.
The Laser selectively heats the skin tissue and the extra cellular matrix where the collagen is imbedded. The local heating of the area being treated causes an immediate contraction of the collagen fibres, and at the same time increases the metabolism of the fibroblast order to accelerate production of new collagen and elastin fibres to create a smoother, healthier and younger looking skin.
Gentle pulses target the microvasculature and heat the upper
dermis resulting in the upper dermis peeling off revealing the new skin underneath.
To treat Acne, the laser is directed so the heat will penetrate through the epidermis to the underlying tissue of the spot where the bacteria and/or virus is present. In response to the heat, the infected tissue is destroyed and decomposed, killing the bacteria and/or virus. The heat from the lasers also has a sterilizing effect, which helps prevent new bacteria and/or viral growth.
Onychomycosis, also called tinea unguium, is a fungal infection that affects either the fingernails or toenails.
A fungal nail infection occurs from the overgrowth of fungi in, under, or on the nail. Fungi thrive in warm, moist environments, so this type of environment can cause them to naturally overpopulate
Laser devices emit pulses of energy that produce heat. When used to treat onychomycosis, the laser is directed so the heat will penetrate through the toenail to the nail bed where the fungus is present. In response to the heat, the infected tissue is gasified and decomposed, destroying the fungus and the surrounding skin and nail. The heat from the lasers also has a sterilizing effect, which helps prevent new fungal growth.
Skin tags, medically known as acrochordons or cutaneous papillomas, are small, soft, benign growths that typically appear on the skin's surfaceand range in size from a few millimeters to around a centimeter. They are typically flesh-colored or slightly darker than the surrounding skin. Skin tags can have a smooth or wrinkled appearance and may be attached to the skin by a narrow, stalk-like structure called a peduncle. They are quite common and usually painless, but they can be bothersome or cosmetically undesirable for some individuals.
The laser is directed precisely at the base of the skin tag. The laser energy is absorbed by the water content in the cells of the skin tag. This absorption causes the cells to heat up, leading to vaporization or coagulation of the cells. The goal is to sever the blood supply to the skin tag and break down the tissue.
What results can I expect from this treatment?
The skin tag, it may shrink, dry up, or fall off over a period of a few weeks.
The exact cause of skin tags is not fully understood, but they may develop due to friction or skin rubbing against skin. They are more common in individuals who are overweight, pregnant, or have a family history of skin tags.
